Sleep Lab was formally started in AIIMS, Rishikesh in 2019, however, facility for polysomnography with one bed was available since 2014.

Presently, we have two beds for Level 1 sleep study in sleep laboratory.

We are doing diagnostic studies aimed to diagnose following disorders in the lab:

  • Unexplained Chronic Insomnia
  • Sleep Related Breathing Disorders
  • Hypersomnia, especially narcolepsy (including MSLT/MWT)
  • Sleep related movement disorders
  • Parasomnias, especially REM sleep behaviour disorder

We are doing manual titration with PAP in the centre. We are using both CPAP and BPAP for this purpose

We are providing training to Physicians and Sleep technologists interested in learning the science. Duration and content of training is tailor made according to the need of the applicants.

Interested persons may get themselves trained in various aspects e.g.,

  • Polysomnography hooking up and Scoring of data
  • Manual titration of PAP
  • Sleep laboratory management
  • Sleep Clinic: We get patients of all kinds of sleep problems. Hence, trainee is able to understand and learn art of history taking, clinical examination and deducting the information to make a diagnosis.
  • PAP Clinic: Issues related to compliance and adherence with PAP machines are addressed
  • CBT-I: One may watch the process of Cognitive behaviour Therapy for Insomnia
How many sleep techs are employed at the Sleep centre? what are their day time and night time duties?2019-06-26T04:15:21+00:00

Presently we have four sleep technologists posted in sleep laboratory. They are doing six nights in a month (12 hours) and rest of the duties are divided in morning and evening duties. They get two offs in a week.

  • PAP titration: 1-2 in a week
  • MSLT/MWT: Depending upon the diagnosis
